Chicago Federation of Labor Statement on the Designation of Peter Sung Ohr as Acting General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board
CHICAGO – The Chicago Federation of Labor released the following statement regarding the announcement that President Biden has designated Peter Sung Ohr as Acting General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board. Ohr previously served as Regional Director of the Chicago Regional Office (Region 13) of the NLRB:
“What a difference a week makes,” said Chicago Federation of Labor President Bob Reiter. “Peter Sung Ohr is a fine public servant who understands the important role the NLRB must take in protecting the freedom for workers to organize and collectively bargain. He is a fantastic choice for NLRB Acting General Counsel and we are proud of the work he did at the Chicago Regional Office. On behalf of the Chicago Federation of Labor, we applaud President Biden for taking swift and decisive action to begin to put the NLRB back on the side of working people, where it belongs.”
“Peter Sung Ohr has served admirably in his time as Regional Director of the Chicago Regional Office of the NLRB, and he is a terrific pick as NLRB Acting General Counsel,” said Chicago Federation of Labor Secretary-Treasurer Don Villar. “Now more than ever, workers need a NLRB that supports their basic right to collectively bargain and protects their workplace rights. Peter Sung Ohr has a deep understanding of the challenges facing workers and organized labor today, and we are thrilled he will continue to protect workers as Acting General Counsel.”
