Chicago Federation of Labor Statement on Protecting the Vote

CHICAGO – Chicago Federation of Labor President Bob Reiter released the following statement regarding protecting the vote:

“As Joe Biden approaches 270 electoral votes, President Donald Trump has once again unleashed his fury on our democracy. Here in Chicago, the labor movement helped elect leaders like U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and freshman Congresswoman Marie Newman, and stood strongly with Vice President Biden. We are proud of the role unions played in supporting the democratic process in Chicago and around the country.

“The Chicago Federation of Labor is ready to assist our sisters and brothers in Wisconsin and Michigan in protecting the vote. Every vote must be counted, and we must see this election through to Inauguration Day. Finally, we stand with Chicagoans who voted to see real leadership return to the White House.”

The Chicago Federation of Labor is the third-largest central labor council of the AFL-CIO representing nearly 300 unions and labor organizations comprised of half a million union members in Chicago and Cook County.
