Service Employee Unions Speak Out Against a System Rigged in Favor of the Wealthy

On Feb. 26, SEIU Local 1 janitors joined SEIU Local 73 public employees, SEIU Healthcare health care workers, non-union airport, higher education and hospital workers as well as community leaders at Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago for the “Rise Up Day of Action” to show that workers refuse to be divided. The protest was one of 300 across the country as working people continue the fight for the good union jobs families and communities need to thrive. Participants handed out iconic “Proud Union Home” signs to passerby to illustrate how working families are sticking together.

The United States Supreme Court began hearing oral arguments in the Janus v. AFSCME case. The case is an attempt by politicians like Bruce Rauner, anti-worker CEOs and corporations to divide working people, limit their power to come together on the job, and silence their voices. But working people came together, stood up and spoke out against the anti-worker effort.
