 Chicago – Chicago Federation of Labor (CFL) President Dennis J. Gannon was re-elected without opposition Tuesday evening to serve a second four-year term by delegates representing over 300 local unions in Cook County.  Gannon has served as president since 2002, and has been with the CFL since 1995. 

“It is a great honor to serve as President of the Chicago Federation of Labor and I am privileged to accept this nomination,” said Gannon.  “Over the next four years, we have an opportunity to strengthen the labor movement and make things better for working men and women in Cook County.”

Jorge Ramirez, Executive Director of Local 1546 of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), was elected by delegates to serve as CFL Secretary-Treasurer.  Ramirez has extensive collective bargaining experience with UFCW and brings considerable grassroots, political, and field experience with union organizing and political campaigns.

“I am proud to become an officer with the Chicago Federation of Labor,” said Ramirez.  “I will work tirelessly to move forward the agenda of this organization to protect working families.”

The entire “Unity in Progress” slate was elected without opposition, including the positions of 1st and 2nd Vice-Presidents and Sergeant-at-Arms, 18 Executive Board positions and three Finance Committee positions.  The entire slate is listed below:
