The Chicago area’s largest labor organization today announced endorsements for the Cook County Board of Commissioners in the upcoming February 2 Primary Election.  The Chicago Federation of Labor’s decision to endorse individual candidates was based on their positions on a number of key issues that affect working families living and working in Cook County, including the county’s budget, regulation of video gaming and health care services.

“The actions of the county board greatly affect union members and all residents of Cook County who rely on the essential services provided by county government,” said Dennis Gannon, President of the Chicago Federation of Labor.  “Just as we have acted in recent years to elect people to the Chicago City Council who understand the interests of working people, we believe the same should be true at the county level.”

The Chicago Federation of Labor is the central labor body covering Chicago and Cook County.  The CFL has 300 affiliated labor unions comprised of approximately half a million union members.
