Mayor Daley met with union leaders today to debate his threat to lay off more than 1,000 employees. Those cuts have been proposed to ease budget deficits. While there is no deal yet, Mayor Daley and Chicago labor leaders did strike a conciliatory tone this afternoon, and there's hope tonight that those cuts won't get any deeper.
