The 500,000 union members in Chicago and Cook County play an integral role in all of our lives.  They are responsible for maintaining our safety, our health, and our way of life.

This year, the Chicago Federation of Labor engaged in an unprecedented television and radio campaign to show our support for our 300 affiliated local unions and the men and women they represent.

Through the campaign, the CFL hopes to restore the true meaning of Labor Day by celebrating the heroic and everyday contributions of union members as well as the value of unions.

The labor movement is responsible for such things as employee health care, pensions, workplace safety laws, the40-hour work week, and countless other provisions that have built the American middle class.
