On November 4, the CTA will be forced to implement its "doomsday" scenario, cutting 39 bus routes, raising fares, and laying off 600 workers, unless the Governor and members of the General Assembly can agree on a funding solution this week. Currently the best option, the so-called "Hamos Bill," would generate $435 million a year, in part through meaningful reforms to the RTA and a modest .25% sales tax increase in the Chicago area. TAKE ACTION! Tell the Governor and your legislators to pass SB 572 and save mass transit!
The General Assembly is expected to revisit the bill on Friday in Springfield. For more information, see below: SaveChicagolandTransit.com Chicago Tribune editorial Chicago Sun-Times editorial
