A bill to fund Chicago-area mass transit failed in the Illinois House today, setting the stage for fare hikes, service reductions, and massive layoffs beginning on September 16. 

Labor joined legislators and mass transit advocates at a rally last week to support Senate Bill 572 where they stressed the importance of the measure.
