Voters in Chicago overwhelmingly support the Big Box Living Wage Ordinance according to an analysis of the recent ballot referendum.  Support for the ordinance to require large retailers to pay their employees $10 an hour with $3 an hour for health care benefits is widespread and consistent, the report concluded.

The report, released by the Grassroots Collaborative, found that 80 percent of voters support the initiative.   The findings stand in stark contrast to the claims of living wage opponents who often paint the ordinance as supported only by unions or who insist that Aldermen who voted against the ordinance are voting the way their ward wants them to.
